First Christmas

Once again I am apologizing for not posting on my blog. I will try and make it up to you by posting a free smocking plate.

I am getting ready to ship this in the morning. I hope it fits. I hope she wears it.

The bishop is a size 12 months Cherry Williams made from red corduroy. It is smocked with 4 strands of DMC #3866 and #321.

  1. Thank you Janet! A beautiful dress for grand baby's first Christmas. Enjoy!

  2. Your plate really compliments the dress! Did you remove some of the fullness since you were smocking with corduroy?

  3. Yes Jo, I did remove some of the fullness. I think it was an inch in the front and 1/2" for each back piece. I left the sleeves alone since I wasn't sure if I wanted to smock them or not. I don't like skimpy smocked sleeves.

If I was using an Ellen McCarn bishop pattern I would have removed much more.

  6. I am interested in beginning smocking and purchasing a pleater. Is there any advice or direction you can offer me?
    Thanks,

  7. Hi Deb, I recommend that you go to the SAGA link on my blog and see if there is a Smocking Guild chapter near you. There are books and DVD's and you tube videos but having someone teach you is the best.

Please email me and we can chat more.~janet gilbert
