I was saving this smocking plate for the spring but in honor of my beloved Cardinals going to the World Series, I will share it now.

The smocking plate as shown, was made as a waistband insert on a Children's Corner "Amy". The insert was pleated with 60 " wide cotton sateen.
The design would also be cute as a smocked yoke on a little boy's bubble or romper or with licensed team fabric. I made this dress for my granddaughter using neutral novelty Baseball print because my son and daughter-in-law have a mixed marriage. She is a Cubs fan, but we love her anyway!
