Easter Dress

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We all went to church in the morning then spent the rest of the day moving my youngest son into his new house.

Here are the photos of my daughter's Easter Dress.

The pattern is Sew Beautiful's Mary & Morgan. Here is the link.

I added a smocked insert band between the bodice and the skirt. I also added side seam pockets because of the cell phone that is permanently attached to her hand.

The fabric is from my stash. I desperately need to thin out my stash a littler bit ( well actually more then a little bit) before I get nominated for an episode of "Hording, Buried Alive". LOL :-)

Sorry the dress in this photo is wrinkled because I took this photo after church when I realized I hadn't gotten a picture of just the dress.

The jacket is my shrug pattern from Sew Beautiful #114.

  1. This is so pretty. The color just says, "Easter". Do you have a close up photo of the smocking. Your pictures wouldn't enlarge when I clicked on them. Your daughter is so pretty!!

  4. Janet, I'm so happy you lured me to your blog. The dress is beautiful. And don't think I didn't notice the smocked detail!

  5. Beautiful dress Janet! Don't worry, I cleaned up the sewing room the other night and actually put away fabric that I had tossed around the room in various piles and bags. They can feature us in a dual episode of Hoarders! I kept remembering projects I wanted to do and had bought fabric for, now maybe I had better get them done:)

  8. I thought I had commented on this but the color of this is gorgeous on your daughter. You are so inspiring to me as I've followed your blog and seen your articles in Sew Beautiful. You make such beautiful smocked clothes for your dd that are so appropriate for her age. I hope my dd will still love me sewing for her when she is older too. A friend pointed out to me tonight that you are from Illinois too! Here I thought I was in a no-man's land of heirloom sewing! :)
